New Construction + Renovation

PROJECT TITLE PHOTOS

This single story home on the shore of Lake Winnebago was built in 1949. Our clients, a couple with two children, wanted to preserve the mid-century exterior and revitalize the interior to fit their active lifestyle. Program requirements included four bedrooms, a floor plan that orients views towards the lake, a second story addition with a spa-like master bedroom, and construction of a new contemporary guest house.

To maximize views, we removed multiple interior walls and enlarged windows. The second floor addition sits above the original south wing and creates a spacious master suite that features a gym and luxe master closet.

A family living space, the “Lake Room,” integrates with the kitchen where an 11ft concrete island serves as the main eating area.  The kitchen features a pantry hidden behind white oak pivot doors, minimizing clutter.

The guest house reinterprets mid-century architecture and strongly relates to the original home. A garden wall clad in stucco offers privacy and unifies the two structures.

Sustainable elements include high-efficiency mechanical systems, durable finishes, upgraded thermal envelope, LED lighting, and wiring for an electric car charging station.
